Biography
Briefly... Ryan Chapatte enters his fifth and final season with the Lions... he served a 2001 redshirt season and came back in 2002 to lead team in scoring...has ability to score inside or out... has an excellent all around game... team will look to his outside shooting to give offense more options as they did his junior campaign... in the pool leadership will be valuable his senior season.
At LMU... 2002... came back from a year off strong, leading the Lions in goals with 49... was a first-team All-WWPA selection... finished hitting on 45.8 percent of his shots... also led the Lions with 39 steals in 2002... added 12 assists... he had eight games with three or more goals, including a career high of five in 13-7 win over Air Force (11-9-02)... 2001...served a redshirt season with the Lions...2000...started in all 28 games for the Lions...found the back of the net 20 times, shooting an impressive .417 for the season...assisted in 16 goals...brought the team 32 steals...1999...played in all 31 games as a freshman...30 goals were fifth most among all Lions...made defensive presence felt with 32 steals, third best on team...also recorded 20 assists...shooting percentage of .390.
High School... A 1999 graduate of Soquel High School in Soquel, CA...a three-year letterwinner in water polo, swimming and basketball...water polo team captain in his junior and senior year...two-time all-conference, three-time all-league... was league MVP as a senior... was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year... earned first-team All-America honors in his final season.
Personal... Ryan Edward Anthony Chapatte was born on Feb. 9, 1981 in Santa Cruz, CA...the son of David and Diane Chapatte...has one brother, Matthew... majoring in engineering.
