Sorensen comes to LMU with six years of coaching experience under his belt. Before coming to The Bluff, Sorensen coached at Woodbridge High School. He coached the freshman boys, boys varsity, and girls varsity. One of Sorenson's standout achievements at Woodbridge High School was the implementation of comprehensive COVID-19 policies and action plans.
Throughout the summers, Sorensen held positions as program director and head coach for the Prince Williams Crew club team from 2014 to 2023. He also led the master women's team at the Prince Williams Rowing Club, achieving numerous first-place finishes in local and regional competitions, including the Schuylkill Head.
Sorensen's coaching journey also included roles at George Mason University Crew Club and Gar-Field High School Crew. As an Assistant Coach at George Mason, they were instrumental in regatta operations and provided invaluable instruction in rowing stroke implementation. At Gar-Field High School Crew, Sorenson's tenure as Girls' Head Coach and Assistant Boys' Coach yielded impressive results, with athletes consistently achieving top-three finishes at the Virginia State Championships.
