Julia Gamache

Julia Gamache comes to LMU for the 2019-20 season with over 12 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level previously with San Diego State, Washington State, University of Miami and the University of Washington. She also brings to the bluff a collegiate career that saw her bring in two NCAA Championships in rowing at Western Washington University.

While at San Diego St., Gamache recruited more than 50 athletes to the men’s program in her six years there. She also coached the first SDSU boat to a medal at the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championships in 2013.

At WSU Gamache led the men’s team to their first silver medal at the ACRA National Championships in 2009. Under her guidance WSU had three consecutive top 10 national standings from 2008-11.

"Julia is a person that has never backed down from a challenge.  From her time as an All-American and National Champion student-athlete to her career spent building winning crews, she has the underdog mentality and fire that is a perfect fit with our program. The men of LMU Rowing are in great hands, and the future of our team is incredibly bright," said Director of Rowing and Women's Head Coach Karl Huhta.
