Hanna Luft begins her second year as LMU rowing head coach, and her fifth season as a coach within the LMU rowing program, in 2018-19. Prior to officially being named head coach in the summer of 2017, Luft spent two stints as an interim head coach with the Lions.
Luft, formerly Hanna Osborne, was a four-year letterwinner for the Lions. A 2013 All-West Coast Conference selection as a senior, she was also a team captain in her final year.
Prior to her return to LMU, Luft worked at Green Lake Crew in her hometown of Seattle, Wash.
As a senior in 2013, Luft helped the Varsity 8+ to a victory over WCC-Champion Gonzaga in a head-to-head and helped defend the Berg Cup with a victory in the Varsity 8+ race. A two-time Lion Pride award winner and member of SAAC while at LMU, Luft also guided the Varsity 8+ to a fourth-place finish at the WCC Championships, helping LMU to a third-place overall finish in the standings that year. She was also a member of the Varsity 8+ in 2012, helping the Lions to a fourth-place finish in the V8+ at the 2012 WCC Championships and a sixth-place finish in the V8+ Grand Final at the 2012 Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships.
Prior to enrolling at LMU, Luft was a four-year letterwinner in rowing under coach Coby Stites at Green Lake Crew in Seattle, Wash. Rowing as part of the varsity open weight 8, she won a Northwest Regional Championship and placed sixth at the Youth National Championships Grand Final in 2008. Luft also won the 2006 Northwest Regional Regatta with the varsity lightweight 8, and the Petite Final at the 2006 Youth National Championships with the same boat.
Luft graduated from LMU in 2013 with a degree in health and human sciences.
