Los Angeles, CA (March 1) -- The Loyola Marymount University men's and women's basketball programs found out who they will meet in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament, which starts on March 6 in San Diego.

The women's basketball team will take on host Portland on Thursday, March 6 at 12 noon in the first game of the day. The LMU-Portland game will be followed by the second game between San Diego and Saint Mary's. That game begins at 30 minutes after game one. The Lions earned the #6 seed in the tournament and Portland the #6 seed.

On the men's side, the Lions earned the #6 seed and will take on #7 Portland in the first round on Friday, March 7 in game one at 6:00 p.m. The second first round game will feature #5 seed Saint Mary's and #8 seed Santa Clara.

The other women's seedings are: #1 Pepperdine; #2 Gonzaga; #3 Santa Clara and #4 San Francisco. The winner of the LMU-Portland game will meet Santa Clara and the winner of San Diego-Saint Mary's will play San Francisco.

The other men's seedings are: #1 Gonzaga; #2 San Diego; #3 San Francisco and #4 Pepperdine. The winner of the Lions game against Portland will face #3 San Francisco and the winner of Saint Mary's-Santa Clara will take on Pepperdine.

This season the top two seeds in the WCC standings earn bye all the way until the semi-finals.
