Played in all 26 games… Scored 18 goals on 61 shots and added 13 assists for 31 points… Opened the season with a three-goal and four-point performance against #4 Cal (Sept. 7)… Finished with six multi-goal games… Recorded 11 steals… WWPA All-Academic Team Selection.
2018: Sophomore
Played in all 26 games... Scored 24 goals with 10 assists... Recorded a three-goal game against Fresno Pacific (Sept. 29)… Total of 24 points on the season... Added 11 steals.
2017: Freshman
Played in all 28 games... Scored 29 goals with a team-high 33 assists... Total of 62 points on the season to lead the team... Added 20 steals.
BEFORE LMU... graduated from Northwood High School, where he played four years of varsity water polo... Was a three-year all-conference performer and earned All-CIF as a senior and captain... Led Orange County in scoring with a school record 150 goals senior year... As a freshman, he was named JV MVP and was a CIF Quarterfinalist... As a sophomore, named All-League, and was a CIF Qualifier... As a junior, named Varsity MVP, All-League, All-American, and led Pacific Coast League in scoring... As a senior, named Varsity MVP, All-League, All-American, led Pacific Coast League and Orange County in scoring, and was a CIF Semifinalist... Played for SoCal Water Polo Foundation from 2013-17, where he was Cal Cup Champion (2013 and 2017), Cal Cup MVP (2017), and US Club Champion (2016).
PERSONAL... Joseph (Joe) Shaw was born in Newport Beach, CA, and is the son of Jim and LMU alum Shannon Shaw... Has one brother, Timothy (Tim), a goalkeeper for LMU water polo from 2014-18... His brother, mother, aunt, uncle, and grandparents all attended LMU... Is a Boy Scouts of America and Eagle Scout and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity... Earned USA Water Polo Academic All American, named an All American for Water Polo, and part of the California Scholastic Federation... Intends to major in finance at LMU.
