Lions Complete Sweep of Seattle U, Extend Win Streak to Five Behind Hooks’ Strong Outing

SEATTLE, Wash. - LMU softball capped off a dominant weekend in the Pacific Northwest with a 7-5 victory over Seattle U on Sunday afternoon at Logan Field, completing the three-game sweep and extending their winning streak to five games.

With the win, the Lions improve to 28-15 overall and 5-4 in WCC play, moving into third place in the conference standings.

LMU broke through in a big way in the third inning, using a six-hit frame to plate four runs and take early control. Izzy Jamgotchian got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly before Taelor Walker delivered a two-RBI single to left. Sakora Harvell followed with an RBI knock of her own, capping a decisive inning that gave the Lions a 4-0 advantage.

Savannah Hooks got the start in the circle and delivered her longest outing in nearly a year, tossing 4.0 innings while allowing just two runs (one earned) and striking out five. It marked her longest appearance since May 10, 2024, when she threw a complete game, five-inning shutout win over Saint Mary's. Hooks kept the Redhawks in check early and set the tone for the Lions' pitching staff.

Seattle U chipped away with two runs in the fourth, but LMU responded in the fifth inning. Capitalizing on defensive miscues, the Lions added a pair of runs, highlighted by an RBI single from Kealani Caster to extend the lead to 6-2.

The Lions continued to apply pressure in the sixth as Sydney Poole doubled to left center to bring home another run, pushing the advantage to 7-2.

Lindsay O'Dell entered in relief and earned the save, closing out the final three innings. Despite a late push from the Redhawks, including two runs in the seventh, O'Dell held firm to secure the 7-5 win and the series sweep.

Offensively, LMU tallied 10 hits on the day, with Harvell and Lopez each recording multi-hit performances, while Walker drove in two runs to lead the way. The Lions also capitalized on Seattle's three errors, turning opportunities into key insurance runs.

With the sweep, LMU not only secures the series but builds strong momentum heading into the next stretch of conference play.

The Lions will return home next weekend, opening a three-game series against Pacific on Friday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. at Smith Field.
