No. 65 LMU Battles No. 54 Princeton, Zahraj Highlights Lions’ Effort

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 65 LMU women's tennis team battled a fellow nationally ranked opponent on Saturday morning at the LMU Tennis Center, but No. 54 Princeton used strong doubles play and key singles victories to secure a 4-1 win over the Lions.

Princeton opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. The Tiger pair of Tsehay Driscoll and Pearlie Zhang defeated Anastasia Bozova and Ada Piestrzynska 6-2 at the No. 1 position, while Alice Ferlito and Maren Urata topped Kim-Michaela Zahraj and Helene Schnack 6-4 on court three. The match at No. 2 doubles between Isabella Chhiv and Eva Elbaz and LMU's Lidia Gonzalez and Sofia Perovani was left unfinished at 5-4 as Princeton secured the early 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

LMU answered in singles with a strong performance in the middle of the lineup. Kim-Michaela Zahraj delivered the Lions' lone point of the match with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Madeline Jessup at No. 4 singles, giving LMU momentum as the remainder of the courts continued to battle.

Princeton regained control with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles, where Eva Elbaz defeated Ada Piestrzynska 6-3, 6-0. The Tigers clinched the match at No. 6 singles when Tsehay Driscoll edged Sofia Perovani 6-2, 7-5 to put Princeton ahead 4-1.

Other courts featured competitive contests that were left unfinished once the match was decided. At the top of the lineup, Lidia Gonzalez pushed her match against Alice Ferlito into a third set after taking the second 7-6. Helene Schnack also battled through three sets at No. 5 singles against Pearlie Zhang, while Anastasia Bozova forced a decisive third set at No. 2 singles in a tightly contested matchup with Isabella Chhiv.

Despite the result, LMU showed resilience throughout the lineup, highlighted by Zahraj's commanding singles win and multiple matches extending deep into third sets against a nationally ranked Princeton squad.
