LOS ANGELES - LMU came up just short on Tuesday night, falling 2-1 in eight innings to the Cal State Fullerton Titans.
Justine Lambert got things started early with a single in the first and a stolen base, but LMU couldn't cash in.
CSF struck first in the second inning, scoring an unearned run after a Lions throwing error. Lindsay O'Dell took over in the third and kept LMU in the game, getting some help from solid defense behind her.
The Lions looked to answer in the fourth when Sakora Harvell ripped a two-out double, but the tying run stayed stranded. Jasmine Sofowora finally broke through in the sixth, launching a solo homer to even the score at 1-1.
From there, it was a pitchers duel. O'Dell and the Lions defense made some plays, including a caught stealing in the fifth and a clean seventh to send it to extras.
In the bottom of the eighth, a hit-by-pitch and a pinch-runner set the stage for the Titans, who walked it off with an RBI double.
The Lions next game is April 30th against the Fresno State Bulldogs at Smith Field.
