LOS ANGELES – The LMU softball team fought hard but came up short in a tough matchup against the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks, falling 6-2.

Arkansas struck first in the opening inning. A walk and a pair of groundouts moved a runner to third, who then scored on a wild pitch. Lindsay O'Dell settled in after that, limiting the damage to just one run.

The next two innings were scoreless, with strong pitching and defense from both teams.

Arkansas added another run in the fourth inning with a double and an RBI hit. The Lions recorded their first hit in the bottom of the inning when Justine Lambert legged out an infield single, but they couldn't gain a run.

In the fifth, the Razorbacks extended their lead with a two-run homer, making it 4-0. They added another run in the sixth and another solo home run in the seventh to go up 6-0.

The Lions didn't go down quietly in their final at-bat. Sydney Poole led off with a single, and Izzy Jamgotchian followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. 

Mika Chong put LMU on the board with an RBI single, and Sakura Harveyll added another run with a sacrifice fly. However, Arkansas reliever ended the rally with a strikeout, securing the win.

LMU will be back in action tomorrow to take on the Cal Bear and the San Jose State Spartans.
