LOS ANGELES – #14 LMU men's water polo outscored Concordia 14-5 over the final three quarters after Concordia took an early lead in the first period. The Lions won 16-8 to earn their fifth consecutive win of the season.
 
Abel Romero Corbalan opened the game with the first goal at the 6:24 mark of the first quarter. After Concordia tied the game a minute later, Tommaso Baldineti put the Lions ahead on the ensuing LMU possession. A penalty goal tied the game and a score with four ticks left gave the Golden Eagles a first quarter lead.
 
Soren Martin tied the game at 3-3 before CUI added one more response to take a 4-3 advantage at the 3:47 mark. The Lions closed the quarter with four unanswered goals starting with an equalizer from Baldineti and three in a row from Caden Carpenter over the final 2:05 of the half.
 
Baldineti scored back-to-back goals to start the third quarter before Roman Saroyan, Eduardo Carraresi, Josiah Yeager, and Alika Naone turned the period into a 6-0 quarter in favor of the home team.
 
The two sides traded off scoring the seven combined goals of the fourth quarter. Concordia started the period with a goal then Ryan Boschken responded to bring the lead back up to five. After the Golden Eagles added one back, Kaden Breaux converted a penalty goal. CUI took their turn scoring before Breaux added his second of the period. Concordia closed the game with the final goal to bring it back to eight.
 
Finn Friedland made 14 saves with two steals to earn the win.
 
The Lions have two games next weekend beginning with a trip to Pepperdine on Saturday for a West Coast Conference matchup and concluding at home on Sunday against UC San Diego.
