LOS ANGELES – After scoring the opening goal of the game, #17 LMU men's water was unable to come back from deficits the remainder of the game against #18 Santa Clara. Both teams were looking for their first conference wins of the year, with the Broncos taking the game, 13-9.

Josiah Yeager scored in the first minute of play to give the Lions an early lead. After Santa Clara scored the next two,
Baptiste Oliveri converted a penalty shot to tie the game at 2-2 with 3:29 on the clock. Santa Clara scored twice to close out the first.

The Broncos extended their lead to 6-2 before
Roman Saroyan put the Lions back on the scoreboard. An
Abel Romero Corbalan goal was the only other scoring action for the Lions with Santa Clara extending their lead with a six-goal second period to 13-9 at intermission.

Romero Corbalan started the scoring in the second half, converting a powerplay goal. After a response from the visitors,
Richie Rimlinger and Romero Corbalan scored on back-to-back possessions to pull within four. Santa Clara added one back before Saroyan beat the buzzer to make it a 12-8 game.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter until the 1:45 mark when Santa Clara added their 13
th of the day. Romero Corbalan finished his day with his fourth goal in the final minute of action.

Stelios Dalmaras allowed just four goals and made five saves after entering the game off the bench to replace started
Finn Friedland just before halftime.

The Lions will travel to Air Force on Thursday before returning home to host San Jose State in the final West Coast Conference game of the regular season on Nov. 10.
