LA JOLLA, Calif. – In a game that went back and forth on Wednesday night, No. 13 LMU edged out No. 11 UC San Diego with an 11-10 win in the Lions' first road game of the season.

Tommaso Baldineti opened the scoring with the first of his game-high five goals. After UCSD tied the score at 1-all,
Jonny Rimlinger and
Abel Romero Corbalan, gave the lead back to the Lions with back-to-back goals. The Tritons added one back to cut their deficit in half and make it a 3-2 game after the opening eight minutes.

UC San Diego scored the only two goals of the second quarter, with one coming on a penalty and the other on a 6-on-5, to take a halftime lead.

The home team extended their lead to 5-3 after scoring the opening goal of the second half. Baldineti put an end to UCSD's run of three unanswered goals. The Tritons extended the lead to two goals once again at the 5:58 mark of the third before LMU scored the next two unanswered to tie the game at 6-apiece. Baldineti scored his third and then
Alex Marlow punched in a rebound with 3:03 remaining to even the score. With less than a minute left, UCSD took advantage of a powerplay goal to take a brief lead before Romero Corbalan tied the game with just 20 seconds showing on the game clock to set up an even fourth quarter.

Baldineti scored on LMU's first possession of the final period to give the Lions an 8-7 lead. After the Tritons tied the game back up it was Baldineti from the penalty spot with his fifth of the game that put the Lions back on top with just under six minutes to play. UCSD again tied the score on the ensuing possession, scoring their fourth powerplay goal of the night. Romero Corbalan picked up his third goal of the night at the 4:30 mark of the period to give the Lions their 10
th goal of the night and another one-goal lead. Coming out of a timeout, UC San Diego executed the game-tying play and scored with 37 seconds remaining in regulation to make it a 10-10 game. Head Coach
John Loughran responded with a 30-second called timeout of his own to setup the final offensive action.
Jonny Rimlinger, the hero of last year's game in the same pool with three overtime goals, including the game-winner, came up big once again and put the Tritons away with his game-winning goal with 20 seconds showing.

Stelios Dalmaras made a save with time expiring to secure victory. Dalmaras led both teams with 12 saves in his 32 minutes in the cage and added an assist and two steals.

The Lions will look to carry the momentum into the weekend's WCC-Big West Challenge played in Irvine, Calif., on Saturday and Sunday.
