LOS ANGELES - The Lions lost in a, 4-0, game against the CSUN Matadors Monday afternoon. The Lions haven't had an opponent since they played Fresno State back on Mar. 18 due to weather complications.
The Lions and Matadors started off the game in a pitching battle between
Jessica Hubbard and Riley Wickum. Both pitchers finished out the first inning with zero runs while the Matadors had one hit.
At the top of the second inning the Lions had all bases loaded when
Gabby Villa was next at bat. With a chance to lead CSUN, Villa's hit went infield and was caught at third base. The Lions would finish the inning with zero runs and hits with two errors.
Lindsay O'Dell would come in to pitch during the bottom of the second inning in hopes to keep CSUN at zero. Unfortunately for the Lions, the matadors hit a home run and gained two runs. LMU now trailed, 2-0.
In the next two innings, both teams went run less. At the bottom of the fifth,
Savannah Hooks came in for half the inning to try and contain the Matadors. The Lions would eventually sub out Hooks for
Jenna Perez. The next run of the game would come in this inning when the Matadors doubled to right center sending a player back to home plate. During the very next play, CSUN gained another run by doubling right center once again.
LMU and CSUN would finish the last two innings of the game with no runs. The Matadors would defeat the Lions by four.
The Lions next game is tomorrow, Apr. 4, against Cal Baptist University in Riverside, CA.
