PALO ALTO, Calif. – After facing one another for the second time in less than a week's span, No. 3 Stanford got the best of No. 10 LMU, 19-3, in the pool on Friday afternoon to open the MPSF Invitational. The two teams played a tied game on the bluff last weekend, but the Cardinal benefited from the home crowd to break the game open in the second leg of the matchup.
All three goals for the Lions came from the arm of
Blazo Mitrovic. The senior All-American scored a goal in each of the first three quarters.
Stanford scored four goals in the opening period, then five goals in each of the ensuing quarters.
The tournament will continue with another rematch from the week, as LMU will see UC San Diego for the second time in four days. The two will play from the Belardi Pool at 9:40 AM.
