IRVINE, Calif. – #18 LMU women's water polo opened the 2022 Barbara Kalbus Invitational with a tough draw, facing #5 Hawaii. The Lions dropped the opening round game, 20-5.

The Rainbow Wahine took a 4-0 lead in the first before
Mei Vilanova put the Lions on the board in the closing seconds.

Hawaii added the next five goals to open the second quarter before
Mollie Williams put an end to the scoring streak.

Williams scored her second of the game, early in the third quarter, before the Rainbow Wahine expanded their lead to 15-3.

The Lions scored twice in the final quarter as both Vilanova and
Risse Sanchez converted goals.

The tournament will continue for LMU Saturday morning with a 8:00 am game from Marian Bergeson Aquatics Center on the campus of Corona del Mar HS.
