Lion Conclude Weekend at LBSU

LONG BEACH, -- The Loyola Marymount University softball team (10-10) concluded its weekend against Long Beach State on Sunday afternoon. After an undefeated weekend at home, the Lions had a tough two games against LBSU. 
 
The Lions put the first run on the board in the top of the second after Madalie Gomez singled, and then advanced to second after Alyssa Daniell reached on a fielding error, and then to third after Taylor Keinath singled. Megan Dedrick was walked, which sent Gomez home. 
 
Up 1-0, LBSU responded in the bottom of the third with one run, and then with three runs in the bottom of the third, three in the fifth and two in the sixth, closing out the game with a 9-1 win. 
 
The Lions had three total hits. Keinath went 1-2 at the plate. Dedrick collected one RBI, while Daniell and Desiree Moreno led in putouts with five each. 
 
Marina Vitalich (5-3) pitched. 3.1 innings and allowed three hits. And four runs, while Paulina Johnson pitched 1.0 innings, allowing three hits and three runs. Brittany Steenbergen pitched 1.0 innings and allowed four hits and two runs. 
 
Down 1-0 on the day, the Lions dropped. Their second game of the say to the Dirtbags, 8-0. 
 
LBSU put two runs on the board in the bottom of the third, three in the fourth, two in the. fifth and one in the sixth, closing out the game in the bottom of the sixth. 
 
The Lions had six total hits. Keinath and Molly Grumbo both went 2-3 at the plate. 
 
Alessandaa Samperio (2-3) pitched 4.0 innings, and allowed eight hits and seven runs. Johnson came in to pitch 1.0 runs, allowing three hits and three runs, whole Steenbergen pitched 1.0, and allowed four hits and two runs. 
 
The Lions will be back in action on March 20 to play a three-series game versus Stanford.
