LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount softball team (8-7) went 3-1 at the LMU Tournament over the weekend, losing to University of Delaware 14-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Delaware came out on a strong note, scoring eight runs in the top of the first two in the second, two in the fourth and two in the fifth.
The Lions put one run on the board in the bottom of the fifth when
Riley Ehlen doubled to left center, and then advanced to third after
Amanda Treatch grounded out. Molly Grumb hit a single to the left side sending Ehlen home.
Down 14-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Lions closed out the game. LMU had four hits, compared to Delaware's 15. Grumbo went 2-3 at the plate, while
Sierra Marshall and Ehlen went 1-2.
Mallory Eckroth,
Brittany Steenbergen,
Paulina Johnson and Carline Bridges all pitched for the Lions. Eckroth picked up the loss.
The Lions will be back in action next week, as the team will participate in the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.
