Opening Tournament Set as Men’s Water Polo Travels to Triton Invitational

LOS ANGELES – The 2019 season will officially be underway this weekend as LMU men's water polo, ranked 14thin the nation, opens the year at The Triton Invitational. The field includes 14 teams, all from California, in the first weekend of collegiate action.
 
UC San Diego will serve as tournament hosts, and welcome a tough field to Canyonview Aquatic Center. Participating teams include University of California, San Diego, University of California, Berkeley, Chapman University, Claremont Mudd-Scripps, Concordia University, Fresno Pacific University, California State University, Long Beach, Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University, Pomona-Pitzer College, University of California, Davis, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Santa Barbara, and Whittier College (Whittier).
 
LMU opens at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday from Canyonview Pool against #4 Cal. The Golden Bears will have opened the tournament with an 8:30 game against (RV) Whittier at 8:30 a.m. LMU's second game of the day will be at 4:30 p.m. against the Poets to close out the pool from Canyonview. Whittier is receiving votes in the Varsity Top 20 Poll, and second in the Division III Top 10.
 
Games begin at 8:00 a.m. from Triton Pool and 8:30 a.m. from Canyonview Pool, and are scheduled out to begin every hour and twenty minutes. Seven games will be played from each pool on both Saturday and Sunday. UCSD will only be providing online stats for games in which the Tritons are participating.
 
Tickets are available at the gate at $15 per day. Senior citizens (65+) and children/youths (4-17) will be able to enter at a $10 rate. Parking is free on campus over the weekend.
