WWPA Coaches Pick LMU to Finish Third in 2019

WWPA Release

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Western Water Polo Association has released the Preseason Head Coaches Poll, the conference announced on Wednesday. LMU has been picked by the league's eight head coaches to finish the season in third place.

The Lions entered the 2018 WWPA Championships at the three-seed and knocked off fifth-seeded Air Force in the 3rd Place Game, 10-7, last season.

UC San Diego took the top spot with seven first place votes and 49 points. UC Davis claimed the remaining first place vote and finished with 43 points. The Lions are the only other team above 30 points, after totaling 33 points in the poll.

The WWPA polling is consistent with the CWPA Preseason Poll released last week, which saw six conference schools either ranked or receiving votes in the initial poll.

The Lions open the season at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational. LMU's first game will be played on Sept. 7 at 12:30 p.m. against #4 California.
