CWPA Poll
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The men's water polo preseason rankings have been released, with LMU being slotted into the 14-ranked position in the Men's Varsity Top 20. The Lions finished the 2018 season with a win in the third-place game of the Western Water Polo Association Tournament and a #12 national ranking in the final CWPA poll.
LMU returns all three WWPA All-Tournament Team members from last fall, with first team members
Blazo Mitrovic and
Alexandros Athymaritis and second team performer
Joseph Shaw all back on the Bluff.
The WWPA has six conference schools either ranked or receiving votes in the initial poll. UC San Diego and UC Davis are positioned back-to-back at ninth and tenth, respectively, followed by LMU at 14 and California Baptist at 16, with Air Force and Santa Clara receiving votes.
The Lions open the season at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational. LMU's first game will be played on Sept. 7 at 12:30 p.m. against #4 California.
