SACRAMENTO, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team dropped its first two games in its series against Sacramento State on Saturday.
The Lions (6-4) fell 4-1 in its first game against the Hornets. LMU went scoreless until the fourth inning, where
Hailey Jackson got a run, giving
Molly Grumbo an RBI. The Lions had four total hits, compared to Sac State's 13.
Hannah Bandimere (4-2) pitched one inning allowing six hits and two runs, giving her a 1.87 earned run average.
Linnay Wilson pitched five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs, giving her a 1.65 ERA.
Down 1-0 on the series, the Lions went into their second game against the Hornets, where they fell 4-2.
The Lions scored their first run in the second inning after
Maddison Flores scored, giving
Kaley Robinson an RBI. The Hornets responded and scored two runs.
LMU got its second run in the fourth, when
Kaley Robinson scored an unearned run, giving
Andrea Gonzalez an RBI. The Hornets then scored a run in the fourth and one in the fifth, giving them a 4-2 win.
The Lions had eight total hits, compared to the Hornets' five. Gonzalez went 2-4, while Robinson went 2-3.
Samantha Manti (2-2) pitched six innings, allowing five hits and four runs, giving her a 2.84 ERA.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow to finish off the three-game series at 11 a.m.
