FULLERTON, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team remains undefeated, as the Lions closed out their last game of the Titan Classic with a 2-1 win over Buffalo in Fullerton, Calif., and advance to 4-0 on the season.
The Lions were the only team to go undefeated at the Titan Classic this weekend, as the team also beat Utah State 3-2, Idaho State 1-0, Northwestern 3-2 and Buffalo 2-1.
"This weekend gave us a good opportunity to work our process," said head coach
Sami Strinz-Ward. "We had two grinders Friday, then came off of a hard-fought battle yesterday and had to respond today. We are still learning how to compete pitch to pitch and that in and of itself is a process. That's our focus right now. When we work the process, the outcome generally falls in our favor."
The Lions got off to a slow start, as they got both of their two runs in the sixth inning, compared to Buffalo's one run in the fourth inning. LMU's runs came from
Hailey Jackson and
Irma Sanchez. Sanchez went 1-3 with an RBI, while
Andrea Gonzalez went 1-3 with an RBI.
Hannah Bandimere pitched three scoreless innings, while having a one hit inning and came out with the win. Bandimere is now 2-0 on the season, along with
Samantha Manti. Manti pitched 2.2 innings allowing one run, while
Linnay Wilson pitched 1.1.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday for their home opener against Ole Miss starting at 2 p.m.
