Men's Water Polo Announces 2018 Incoming Class

LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount men's water polo announces five new members for the 2018 season. Head Coach John Loughran's new additions will look to help the Lions this fall as LMU returns for another WWPA season at Burns Aquatics Center.

Blazo Mitrovic | 6'1 | 190lbs | Hometown: Przno, Montenegro

Mitrovic comes to LMU from Przno, Montenegro. He was a member of the Montenegrin Junior National team, who won the European Junior Championships in 2014. Blazo plays for VK Budva, a high-level club team in Montenegro. Mitrovic has also been training with the Senior National Team of Montenegro.

"Blazo is a strong right handed attacker," said Coach Loughran. "He is going to add another weapon for us on the perimeter. We see him helping us right away this upcoming season."

Collin Kapecki | 6'3 | 190lbs | Stevenson High | Hometown: Lake Forest, Illinois

Kapecki comes to LMU from Stevenson High School in Illinois. He is product of LMU Alumni Sean Wimer '04 at Stevenson. Collin was a starter at Stevenson High. Kapecki also swam for Stevenson, going 21.90 in the 50 Free and 48.12 in the 100 Free. Kapecki plays club for Northern Illinois Polo Club.

"Collin is a big, fast and aggressive shooter," said Coach Loughran. "He is going to be a great asset to the program. Coming from Coach Wimer (LMU '04), we know that Collin is going to bring is A game every day to practice."

Alex Davis | 6'0 | 165lbs | Mater Dei High | Hometown: Newport Beach, California

Davis comes to LMU from Mater Dei High where he was a member of the 2017 CIF championship team.

"Alex is going to help us on the 4/5 side of the pool," said Coach Loughran. "He has a high water pool IQ and being left handed will us to attack that side of the pool. Having played at such a high level every day in high school will allow him an easier transition into the college game."

Jon Lien | 6'3 | 185lbs | Servite High | Hometown: Irvine, California

Lien comes to LMU from Servite High. Jon will help between the pipes as a Lion. Lien was an outstanding goalie his senior season. He also plays water polo for SOCAL club.

"Jon is going to be a great addition for us in goal," said Coach Loughran. "Playing at a high level club like SOCAL has allowed him to see great shooters every day in practice. Servite also plays in a tough league and he will be used to the seeing faster shots."

Luke Chandler | 5'10 | 190lbs | Jesuit High | Hometown: Sacramento, California

Chandler comes to LMU from Jesuit High and plays for the American River Water Polo club.

"Luke is a crafty and aggressive attacker," said Coach Loughran. "He has a very accurate shot. He is going to bring a great level to practice every day."
