LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount men's water polo has one final non-conference game this week before shifting focus to the WWPA Tournament. The Lions (12-12, 5-2 WWP) face Long Beach State (9-11, 2-2 GCC) Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on the LBSU campus Wednesday at 7 p.m.
LMU enters the game winners of four of their last five games, and the Beach snapped a five-game losing streak with two straight conference wins to open November.
At the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association polls, Long Beach State checked in at No. 8 and LMU was tabbed at No. 15. The new poll will be released on game day this Wednesday.
The game will be streamed live and feature live stats through the links above.
The WWPA also announced on Tuesday the seeds for the upcoming Championship.
LMU's 5-2 record slots the Lions into the three-seed, after earning the tiebreaker win over Cal Baptist earlier this season. LMU beat the #12 Lancers (21-10, 5-2 WWPA) at home on Oct. 25.
#10 UC San Diego (16-5, 6-1 WWPA) will be the top seed and #9 UC Davis (15-7, 6-1 WWPA) will be the second seed after their head-to-head matchup Saturday determined the tiebreaker.
With the seeding finalized, the Lions now know that they will open the tournament in Game 4 on Friday, a 2:45 matchup with sixth-seeded Santa Clara. LMU just played the Broncos, earning a 14-10 road win on Saturday.
Fresno Pacific is hosting the three-day conference tournament at Clovis Olympic Swim Complex in Fresno, Calif. Single-day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/youth for each day of competition, and will be available for purchase at the gate only (cash only).
