All-Conference Teams
LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount men's water polo is represented on each of the Western Water Polo Association All-Conference teams.
Blazo Mitrovic earned a specialty award as the conference's Freshman of the Year, to go along with his first team All-WWPA honors. Junior
Alexandros Athymaritis earned second team recognition and
Dayne Jagga is on the All-WWPA Honorable Mention team.
Mitrovic had a historic year with the Lions, finishing second in the WWPA with 68 goals and tied for sixth in the conference with 78 points. Nobody averaged more goals than Mitrovic, who averaged over three goals per game. Once conference play began, Mitrovic scored 20 goals, two off the conference lead and tied for second-most in the WWPA.
Athymaritis found himself in the conference's 10 top with a career-high 40 goals on the year. He improved his goals per game average from his season total of 1.82 to his conference of 2.14 goals per game. Both Athymaritis and Mitrovic led LMU with 22 steals on the season.
Nobody on the Lions drew more exclusions than
Dayne Jagga. The senior finished his regular season with 25 goals and 12 steals to earn second-team recognition.
LMU's season continues on Friday with the opening round of the WWPA Championships in Fresno, Calif. The #13 and three-seeded Lions face #17 sixth-seed Santa Clara to open the tournament.
