Men's Water Polo

East Coast Competition Face Lions in Santa Clara

LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount men's water polo will play three games at this weekend's Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament against teams from the east coast.

The Lions (7-9) open Santa Clara's annual invitational on Friday with a  3:40 p.m. game against St. Francis, and follow with a pair on Saturday against fellow Northeast Water Polo Conference opponents Brown then Harvard. Those games are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 2:20 p.m., respectively.

St. Francis (4-9, 4-1 NEWPC), enters the weekend winners of two straight and four of their last five, with their only blip in that stretch being a 15-14 loss to Harvard.

Brown (12-9, 4-2 NEWPC) saw their six-match win streak snapped on Sunday after losing to a pair of ranked teams in their own Harvard Invitational.

Harvard (15-5, 5-1 NEWPC) also comes into the tournament hot, winning four of their last five, splitting competition this last weekend defeating No. 18 Wagner and falling to No. 15 Bucknell.

In 2017, in recognition, the water polo program renamed the annual Rodeo Tournament as the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, a three-day event which features teams from both sides of the country.

LMU's games against St. Francis and Harvard will be played at Sullivan Aquatic Center on the campus of Santa Clara University, with the Brown matchup taking place offsite at West Valley College.

There are both single-game and all-day options for the tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Single-game tickets are $6 each and an all-day pass is $10, which will allow patrons exit and entry for all contests each day at Sullivan Aquatic Center (not including games at West Valley College). They may be purchased online or at Sullivan Aquatic Center, which opens one hour prior to the first game each day.
