SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Alessio Brunochelli scored four goals on Sunday, but Loyola Marymount dropped their final game of the 2017 Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament to No. 11 San Jose State, 9-5.
The game opened with a scoreless first quarter. After falling behind two goals early in the second, LMU tied the score with goals by Brunochelli and Nicolaus Rimlinger.
The Spartans then scored five unanswered to make it a 7-2 game with 6:14 to play in the third. Brunochelli scored two of the final three goals of the quarter, as well as the first goal of the fourth quarter, before time ran out on the Lions.
LMU plays a road conference game on Thursday before returning home to Burns Aquatic Center for the remainder of the regular season.
