LOS ANGELES - It was all about the program on Saturday at the Burns Aquatics Center, as LMU men's water polo put together its most complete game of the young season to earn an 18-6 win over Fresno Pacific in Western Water Polo Association play.

It was a fitting win for the Lions (3-7, 1-1) as they came together on a day the Lions reconnected with their alumni during the annual Alumni BBQ Weekend game and in the process honored the memory of a friend and teammate.

Jon Beck, who helped the Lions to its first WWPA win of the season with a season-best four goals, had a little extra to play for. He was honored after the game with the Kyle Testman Water Polo Endowed Scholarship. Rob and Karen Testman were on hand to award the scholarship, given in the name of their son Kyle, who unexpectedly past away on Nov. 4, 2015.

Both Kyle, a 2013 graduate of LMU who was a two-time All-WWPA selection for the Lions, and his brother Tyler Testman played together for LMU water polo program. Tyler was on hand to honor Beck, also a former teammate, with the scholarship.

In his application letter for the scholarship, Beck wrote, "As a senior and captain of the LMU Men's Water Polo Team, my vision this year to help create a culture that will last beyond my final year of collegiate competition. My goal is to instill in each and every member of our team what it means to me an LMU Lion…. I would be honored to receive the Kyle Testman Water Polo Scholarship and to carry on his legacy during my last year at LMU and for the rest of my life."

In addition to the personal testimony, candidates must be an undergraduate men's water polo player, maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, and to those who demonstrated the values similar to Kyle's, such participation in community service, mission work and a mission to help others.

The Lions continue a three-game homestead when they host LaVerne on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 12 pm.
