Oct. 29, 2015 RIVERSIDE, Calif. - LMU men's water polo continues to shine on the road in the month of October as they started a big two-game week within the Western Water Polo Association with a 13-11 win over California Baptist at the Lancer Aquatics Center in Riverside, Calif., on Thursday.
Senior Milutin Mitrovic matched the Lions win streak scoring six goals to lift the Lions to their sixth straight win to improve to 9-10 overall and 3-1 in the WWPA. The Lions scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back against the 19th-ranked Lancers (14-11, 1-4).
Freshman Dayne Jagga, Nicholas Zanobini and Tyler Testman gave the Lions a 3-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest. The Lions then led 6-3 at the break. Liam Jennis then gave the Lions a four-goal lead with the first goal of the second half to make it 7-3. LMU will take a 9-6 lead into the final quarter.
The lead would grow to five, 12-7, on Mitrovic's goal with 4:17 to play. California Baptist's Bretn Teraoka scored four goals in the fourth quarter to close the gap.
LMU returns home to take on 16th-ranked Santa Clara on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 12 noon.
