LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU men's water polo team split a pair of games against Western Water Polo Association foes in the final day of the SoCal Tournament hosted by UCLA on Sunday. The Lions opened with a 5-4 win over Santa Clara before falling to WWPA rival UC San Diego, 7-6.

The Lions go to 8-7 on the season as they extended their winning streak against the WWPA to 36 with the win over Santa Clara. However, it came to an end that afternoon as the Tritons defeated the Lions for the first time in 13 meetings.

Senior Tibor Forai led the Lions with the eventual game-winning power play goal in the fourth period against the Broncos. Senior goalie Andy Stevens registered seven saves in goal for LMU.

The Lions found themselves in yet another tight one as the teams were tied at three after the first quarter and then UC San Diego took a 5-4 lead into halftime.

The Lions then tied it heading into the fourth quarter at 6-6. UC San Diego would then score mid-way through the final frame on a six-on-five opportunity to earn the win. Triton's goalie David Morton had 12 saves for the game, helping to keep the Lions off the board in the fourth quarter.

LMU will have 11 days off before finally coming home to host Pomona-Pitzer on Oct. 14 at 3 p.m.
