LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The 10th-ranked LMU men's water polo team earned a sweep in a pair of games against Western Water Polo Association foes on Saturday at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center. The Lions earned a 9-3 win over Air Force in the early game, and then knocked off Chapman 21-9 in the second game.
The Lions improve to 11-7 on the season with the two wins as they equal a season-high with the 21 goals. Edgaras Asajavicius scored six goals in the two games as LMU moves to 8-1 against the WWPA.
In game one against the Falcons, it was all about defense. The Lions scored the first five goals of the game and posted shutouts in the first and third quarters. Asajavicius scored three goals in the win.
In game two, it was a shutout early as Chapman held leads of 1-0 and 3-2. However, the Lions slowly pulled away and led 11-7 at the break. LMU then outscored Chapman 10-2 in the second half.
The Lions head to UC San Diego on Oct. 23 for a 1 p.m. start.
