LMU alumnus Warren Anderson '06 brought home a bronze medal as part of the USA quadruple sculls team as the rowing schedule came to an end on Thursday at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The men's quadruple sculls crew of Francis Cuddy (Amherst, N.H.), Deaglan McEachern (Portsmouth, N.H.), Jamie Schroeder (Wilmette, Ill.) and Anderson (Paso Robles, Calif.) the finished 6.05 seconds behind the winners from Cuba. The U.S. boat took over the third spot during the second quarter of the race and maintained that position the rest of the way down the course. Cuba, which sat in second place for the first 1,000 meters, passed Argentina in the second half of the race to win the gold medal in a 6:43.60. Argentina held on to win the silver medal, finishing in a 6:47.74, less than two seconds ahead of the Americans.

Anderson, who starred for the Lions from 2003-06, turned heads at the USRowing Elite National Championships in New Jersey on June 23rd when his boat won the men's quad just hours after he finished second in the men's single. Anderson and his teammates from around the nation won the men's quad at the USRowing Elite National Championships with a time of 5:49.23 to advance to the Pan American Games.

"Warren was, and remains to be, a fantastic competitor and is the most driven athlete that I have ever coached," LMU Varsity Crew Coach Brooks Jones said. "What a tremendous talent to have come through LMU. I am extremely excited for his future and I fully expect to see Warren in London for the 2012 Olympics."
