Los Angeles, CA (June 2, 2005) -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its All-America teams for the 2005 season on Thursday and Loyola Marymount University senior Vanessa Glendenning was named to the second team.
The awards, presented by Pocock, recognize the outstanding accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains for the spring season. Forty-five student-athletes were honored, 20 first-team selections and 25 second-team selections.
In addition, Glendenning was also on the 2005 All-Region team. The awards recognized the outstanding accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains this season. Thirty-nine schools are represented on the first and second-team All-Region, led by eight institutions that placed five rowers each. Varsity 8+ boats ranked in the top six regionally received automatic selections for their respective nominees.
Glendenning was named first-team All-West Coast Conference in April and has led the Lions' Varsity 8 to a second place and third place finish in the overall standings of the WCC the last two seasons. She was a first-team All-WCC and All-WIRA selection in 2004 and was a second-team CRCA Academic All-West region selection.
The New England Region produced the most All-America selections with 13, including five first-team honorees. The West Region produced the most first-team selections with seven. The Central Region produced 10 All-Americans, including five on the first team. The South Region had seven All-America choices, while the Mid-Atlantic Region had four.
