Bigger Than Basketball

"With the Presidential Election being today, I just want to say how proud I am of this team, and their efforts in getting other LMU athletics teams registered to vote. They have done such a phenomenal job using their voices, leading the way, and continue to be catalysts of change here at LMU. There is still time to let your voice be heard! Mask up, and GO VOTE! Loyola Marymount University is a polling location for LA residents. Visit lmu.edu/vote for more information." -Head Coach Charity Elliott

Alumni Spotlight

Mackenzie Neel aka Kerins, Class of 2014

My name is Mackenzie Neel and I played at LMU from 2010-2014. I absolutely LOVED my time at LMU! I was sold on the campus from the moment I drove through the back gates on my official visit. I chose LMU because I felt an immediate connection to the players and coaching staff. All the facilities are beautiful and the weight and training staff are elite. Being able to become best friends with a group of girls and then get to play and travel with them, is an experience I will never forget. Basketball is my passion, and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to experience my college years on the bluff. LMU Basketball helped mold me into the person I am today. I see so many of the qualities and strengths I gained at LMU, show themselves in my current life.

Most notably, I see these strengths in my job as a Juvenile Counselor, also known as a youth probation officer, in my hometown, Eugene, OR. I work with youth who have been charged with a crime and help them navigate the judicial system and mentor them to a better future! Also, because I couldn’t stay away from the athletic world, I teach a spin class at our local studio, Starcycle. It’s a spin class, in a dark room, to loud and rhythm based music. If you’re ever in my area, hit me up and I’ll get you a free class!
